Shortly after the boycott, she moved to Detroit, where she found similar work. From 1964 to 1988 she served as secretary and receptionist to John Conyers, an African-American US Representative. She was also active in the Black Power movement and the support of political prisoners in the US. Rosa Parks continued devoting her life to stand up and fight racial segregation and she has all the prove to show that she is truly a symbol for African Americans. Rosa parks didn't set out to make history on December 1, 1955 but became a activist for civil rights movement and played a major role to end racial segregation. Rosa Parks was able live and witness first hand the effects of the Civil Rights Movement. In the four decades after refusing to give up her seat, she saw an end to legalized segregation in America and the emergence of a Black upper and middle class. People of color now enjoy unparalleled access to business and education opportunities.
